Your Advice for Speaker Cretul?
Marion County’s State Representative Larry Cretul was recently elected as Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives for the next two years. He takes over at a time Florida is going through many economic challenges. What would be your advice to Speaker Cretul as he begins leading the Florida House through our troubled times?

Marion students no longer required to stand for Pledge
OCALA — Last summer’s federal court ruling forbidding school districts to force students to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance has finally trickled down to Marion County Public Schools.
The School Board and district administrators decided they had to remove the “standing” requirement from the code of student conduct.
Kathy Richardson, executive director of student services, told the School Board today that the decision means they cannot force a child to stand for the salute to the American flag.
How do you feel about this? Should the School Board have stood up against this ruling?
