More Budget cuts on the way
Beginning next week, state lawmakers are going to start hacking away at a $2.1 billion revenue shortfall. Before they're through, the new money offered up by local voters could be all but swallowed up. Protecting schools are important. But so much else is at risk as well. Health care for the needy. Criminal justice funding. Social services for children and families at risk. The list is lengthy. How do you think this will effect Marion County? Can we sustain more cuts? Will this impact our Educational System?

Our Schools aren't worth a damn now and you can't get treated within 48hours at the Emergency room in town! More cuts less money we are doomed!
Agree with R.N. Our county fathers and one mother are going to have to decide what government functions to keep and which to shut down. They better spend more time worrying about the operations of the county than fooling around trying to run the sheriff's department, Monroe hospital and other things they have no direct responsibility to run.
Protect schools, community hospital, law enforcement, fire protection and the hell with the rest for the next several years!
We can all go work for Lockhead Martin that the commissioners voted to give away more of our tax dollars! Btw, Harris wasn't anywhere near the complex on this one!
It's well worth it. More jobs means more taxes. Unfortunately, the Harris followers don't have the brains to understand that. As a good friend told me: They know the cost of everything and the value of nothing. What a shame!

Who is Randy Harris? I haven't lived here very long--OTOW--but every time I hear his name mentioned people out here frown. Sort of the same way when George Bush's name is mentioned. I guess Harris isn't well liked at all in this county, based on the reactions of many people.

To the person from OTOW to answer your question Randy Harris was a County Commissioner. He served 3 terms! He was a conservative for the most part. However, he was also a dictator and ran the County as such. His back ass thinking is why we can't dig ourselves out of the messes he created! It was Randy's way or the Highway! Unfortunatly, he would not allow highways or roadways to be Constructed! So now we all get to sit in Traffic!

You so-called Christian Conservatives are a hoot! You use anonymous posts and made up names to beat on liberals. However, the minute a liberal comes on this blog and beats on conservatives and many of their out-dated principles, the Conservatives all of a sudden get their underwear in a knot and engage in personal attacks (about the only way they have to respond--since they are always lacking in facts) on liberals because they post as Anonymous. Conservatives who post on this blog are as bad as some of the liberals who come on here. If we could rid both parties of the right and left extremes, the country would be much better off. Obama has the right idea, he has told the far left to basically "piss off". I live in Dunnellon and can't get it here. I have tried 10 different locations in the Dunnellon area and still can't pick it up. I'd say it's a big overstatement about the 20 counties if you can't even get BD in Marion!!

You must not listen to a word I say. If you are quoting Pat B. His books are very inspirational to me and I am reading one of his books now. Since the banner wont bring anything up someone has to do it. EX: The mayor of belleview has been living in an apartment for at least the last three years. At a public meeting she voted against putting someone on a board because he rented a house. He was a volunteer fireman in belleview and a resident of 21 years. the mayor was playing politics, too long of a story to tell, but she mentioned publically that she rented an apartment but she owns a home. after some very simple investigations, while we were on the air, we found out the mayor takes the homestead exemption and doesn't "reside" in the home. now the banner knows, wont report, why. who knows, but i dont know about you but when the property appraiser is investigating a local public official, i think its news, dont you. thats what we do, if you dont think we should keep an eye on our elected officials and let them run wild let me know. wait to you hear the story about one of the school board members and how they are scamming the system, but when i do that story you wont care because you probably voted for the person and will feel bad that you voted for someone who is a scam. but thats ok, we will keep on exposing the scams. remember the two highest percentage write in ballots in state history were in marion county, both times we rallied the troops, people listen, maybe you should start.

I bought a new radio and used the auto set to find the 10 highest power radio stations. 89.5 FM doesn't even come up on the auto scan. I tired the same thing in the center of Ocala and still no 89.5. Me thinks this talk about the station covering 20 counties is a big hoax!!

for all the liberals, out of the 67 counties in florida, 54 voted for mccain. only 13 voted obama. with the state still a republican state, except 13 counties, do you think it might be time to change how the delegates are used. i think nebraska and new hamphire split up thier electoral votes. would it be to the reps. advantage to do it different now preparing for the next election. im still confused about with the baaa coments. harris sheep. randy hasnt been in politics for 2 years now and has been pretty much out of site. does that mean that all the people who have a Gator license plates are Gator sheep. By the way, according to a stat. i heard from the economic dev. commt. at a workshop, they said only about 6% of the people in marion county have a college degree, how come so many gator license plates. shouldn't you have to be a graduate to get a plate. just wondering.

Well lets figure this one out together. Jackie Porter says in public that she doesn't like Lake Weir Middle School. Now she has to realize that now as a politician she can't trust anyone. So anything she says becomes public. So now, her "fiance" for now supposedly lives with her, at least the last time I checked the dee browns office. so if ms. porters boyfriend lives with her and he has a kid, which i was told he did. where does he go to school. He district is lake weir middle school, now i dont have access to those types of records, but since she said she doesnt like lake weir middle school, i would bet that his kid doesnt go there. since i gave you guys the lead you finish the research and make your own decision. a school board member there for a month, nominates herself for vice chair and might have her kid to be out of district. you make the call

Jackie has been pulling strings for years with these kids so, now she's doing the out of area thing? Huh? Jackie porter against Fitos, no way. first things first, though i dont like fitos she is going to be hard to beat. the reps. arent going to spend a lot of money on someone to run against her, especially when there will be an open seat in payton district. money is too tight and she would have to start campaigning this summer to have a chance. second, fitos is now the big star in the democrat party, they are not going to let her lose. now that sizemore has shot his load and is proven he cant win no matter who he runs against the dems will work hard, with someone who has some name recognition but hasnt been around too long. look for them to run the guy who ran against dennis baxley a few years ago. cant remember his name, was just in iraq and on the first page of the paper. thats my take on the situation. put porter, no way. there are too many other people that are ready for the seat, plus porter wont talk to the banner, she wont talk to the radio people, her political career will be short lived.
